The different gold carats (10k, 14k, 18k)

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘇-𝘃𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗱'𝗼𝗿 (𝟭𝟬𝗞, 𝟭𝟰𝗞, 𝟭𝟴𝗞)?

Let us explain briefly. 👇

Pure gold is 24k, but is too soft to be able to make jewelry. It is therefore necessary to combine gold with other metals to give it strength / solidity. Money is one of the main metals chosen to create the alloy.

- Gold 10K is a very good alternative for smaller budgets, with 41.7% gold.

𝗟'𝗼𝗿 𝟭𝟰𝗞 𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹'𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲, with 58.3% of gold.

- 18K gold is composed of 75% gold.

Gold is yellow, so in order to have what we call 𝘥𝘦 𝘭'𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤, we combine gold with different gray materials such as nickel, zinc and palladium. Often, a rhodium veneer is made to give extra shine to the jewel.
