Moissanite has become a very popular alternative to diamonds in recent years. It bears a striking resemblance to the diamond while being much more affordable. Composed of silicon and carbon (C), moissanite is recreated in a laboratory. Originally discovered in 1893 in the Canyon Diablo meteorite that fell approximately 50,000 years ago in Arizona, USA, it is the origin of the Meteor Crater.

Properties of moissanite:
Moissanite shines, on average, more than a diamond thanks to its refractive index of 2.65 to 2.69, compared to 2.417 to 2.419 for a diamond. This means it reflects more light, provided you compare two similar stones in terms of color, cut, and size. This dazzling stone has a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale, just behind the diamond. This ensures the durability of your jewelry for years to come.
