The Berthoud watch, by Mathieu Blanchard, is freely designed, inspired by the most prodigious master watchmakers the field has known. This model is thus named in homage to Ferdinand Berthoud: a chronometer manufacturer who made history with his fabulous creations, notably his marine chronometers which, in the 18th century, guided the ships of the kings of France to new horizons.

The durability of a product primarily depends on its materials. For Mathieu Blanchard SignatureFor the glass, we use sapphire glass: This is the most frequently used glass on high-end watches today. Sapphire glass is 10 times harder than mineral glass and 4 times harder than acrylic glass. It is virtually impossible to scratch except by diamond, which is even harder. This glass is engineered in a laboratory.
For watch cases and straps, we have made enormous efforts to produce using sustainable materials such as natural wood from sustainable sources and matte-finished stainless steel. This finish ensures visual durability, as wear and tear over time appears much less than when polished.
